A table is where a home does its living. Meals, homework, laptops, board games, the Friday lunch that runs into the evening — all of it happens on a surface that was, more often than not, bought from a catalogue in a size that almost fits. A desk is the same story: the room was measured after the desk was chosen, and the cables, the printer and the second screen have been fighting for space ever since.
At Fitout | Renovation Dubai we design and build custom tables and desks Dubai homeowners commission when they want the surface to fit the room, the family and the work: extending and fixed dining tables in solid timber, veneer and stone; executive and built-in home office desks with cable management and integrated storage; children’s study desks that grow with them; meeting and games tables; and consoles, side tables and kitchen islands to match. Every piece is drawn for your space, made in our own workshop in Ras Al Khor and delivered and installed by our own team.
Since 1984 our carpenters have made tables for villas in Jumeirah and Arabian Ranches, apartments in Downtown and Dubai Marina, and offices, hotels and restaurants across the UAE. This page explains what we make, the timbers and tops that work in the Gulf climate, how commissioning works, what a custom table or desk costs in 2026 and the questions clients ask before they order.
Showroom tables are designed for an average room and a shipping container. They come in 1.8, 2.0 and 2.4 metres, in three finishes, with legs where the manufacturer put them rather than where your chairs need to go. In a Dubai villa dining room that is 5.5 metres long, a 2.4-metre table looks lost; in a Marina apartment where the dining space is 2.6 metres wide, it blocks the walkway. Neither problem is solved by a catalogue.
A custom table starts from the room and the number of people. We size the top to the space with the correct clearances for chairs and circulation, choose a base that lets people sit at the ends and corners without hitting a leg, and match the height to your chairs. We can build extending tables that seat eight every day and fourteen at Eid, tables with stone or glass tops on timber bases, and low tables for majlis seating.
A custom desk starts from the work. We build in cable trays, grommets and power modules; size the top for two screens and a document space; add pedestals, drawers and printer cupboards that match; and, where the room allows, build the desk into a wall of shelving so the office reads as one piece of joinery. For children we build study desks with the right height for their age, storage that encourages tidiness and a finish that survives felt-tip pens.
Made-to-measure pieces are also better made. Showroom tables are built to be flat-packed; ours are jointed in solid timber with steel reinforcement where spans are long, the tops are properly dried and sealed on all faces so they do not cup in air-conditioning, and stone tops are bonded to timber sub-frames engineered to carry the weight. They can be refinished, re-topped or extended years later rather than replaced.
We do not sell from a range. Each category below is a starting point for a conversation about your room, your family or your work, and the finishes already in your home. Every example on this page is an illustration of the style, not a stock photograph of a finished project.
Solid oak, walnut, ash and teak tables with book-matched tops, breadboard ends and hand-finished edges; veneered tables with mitred waterfall edges; and tables with marble, travertine, quartz or sintered-stone tops on solid timber or blackened-steel bases. Extending mechanisms are German, with leaves that store inside the table. We size for six to twenty and match benches, chairs and sideboards.
Freestanding executive desks with modesty panels, pedestals and leather inlays; built-in desks that run wall to wall with shelving, cupboards and a printer bay; and L-shaped or double desks for couples who both work from home. Cable management is designed in from the start: trays, grommets, power and USB modules, and a route to the floor box or wall socket so nothing trails.
Desks sized to a child’s age with a plan for growing — adjustable-height options, a second stage of shelving added later, and finishes that wipe clean. Built into wardrobes or bunk-bed units where space is tight, or freestanding with pin-boards and task lighting. Rounded edges, low-VOC water-based lacquers and no exposed fixings.
Electric height-adjustable frames clad in solid timber or veneer so the desk matches the rest of the joinery, fold-down wall desks for guest rooms, and slim work surfaces built into alcoves, landings and under-stair spaces for apartments where a whole office is not possible.
Boardroom-style tables for home offices and family businesses, poker and games tables with felt inserts and cup holders, low majlis tables in solid timber or with brass inlay, and coffee and side tables to complete a living room. We also build kitchen islands and breakfast tables that match your kitchen joinery.
A table top is the most exposed piece of timber in a home — hot plates, spilled water, sunlight and air-conditioning all land on it. Material choice decides how it looks on day one and how it behaves in year ten. The table summarises the options we use most.
| Material | Best For | Character | Notes for UAE Homes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solid oak | Dining tables, desks, benches | Pale, straight grain, ages to honey | Kiln-dried to 8–10%; breadboard ends control movement |
| Solid walnut | Executive desks, statement dining tables | Deep brown, rich figure | Keep out of direct sun; oil or matt lacquer |
| Solid ash | Children's desks, light schemes | Pale, bold grain, very tough | Takes stain and colour well |
| Teak and iroko | Outdoor and semi-outdoor tables | Golden, oily, weatherproof | Naturally resists humidity and insects |
| Book-matched veneers on MR-MDF | Large tops, waterfall edges, desks | Perfect grain matching, stable | Moisture-resistant core; edges fully sealed |
| Marble and travertine | Dining tables, consoles | Natural veining, cool touch | Sealed; use mats for acids and hot pans |
| Quartz and sintered stone | Family dining, kitchen islands | Uniform, stain-proof, heat-tolerant | Best low-maintenance top for daily use |
| Toughened glass | Light, small spaces | Transparent, opens the room | 10–12mm, polished edges, safety film option |
| Blackened or brass-finished steel | Bases, trestles, frames | Slim profiles, long spans | Powder-coated or lacquered against humidity |
A table in Dubai lives between two climates: the dry, chilled air of a room at 21 degrees and the humid heat that comes in every time a door opens. Solid timber moves across the grain as humidity changes, and a wide top that is not designed for it will cup, crack or split at the joints within a couple of seasons.
We control that movement in three ways. Every board is kiln-dried to 8–10 per cent moisture content and acclimatised in our workshop before it is cut. Tops are built from narrow, alternating boards with breadboard ends or steel C-channels underneath so they can move without distorting. And every face — top, underside and edges — is sealed with the same finish, because an unsealed underside is the most common reason a table top cups.
For desks and large veneered tops we use moisture-resistant MDF or plywood cores, which do not move, with the veneer on both faces to keep the panel balanced. Stone tops sit on timber sub-frames with a flexible adhesive so the timber can move without cracking the stone. All finishes are water-based, low-VOC and cured in the workshop so the piece is ready to use the day it arrives.
Finish is where a custom table earns its place. We offer clear and tinted lacquers in matt, satin and gloss; hardwax oils that can be spot-repaired without stripping the whole top; smoked, fumed and cerused oak; and solid RAL and NCS colours for legs and pedestals. Edge profiles range from crisp square and mitred waterfall edges to soft bullnose, chamfer and hand-shaped live edges. Stone tops can be honed or polished with a matching edge.
Desk hardware is chosen for daily use: full-extension soft-close drawer runners, brushed brass or black handles, flush grommets and pop-up power modules with USB-C, cable trays and spines, and electric sit-stand frames with memory presets. Extending dining tables use German synchronised mechanisms with self-storing leaves. We bring physical samples of every timber, finish, stone and handle to your home so you can judge them under your own light.
Commissioning a table or desk should be simple. Our process is the same one we use for full villa renovations, scaled to a single piece or a whole house of them.
A made-to-measure table in Dubai costs more than a flat-pack import and, piece for piece, is usually competitive with premium showroom brands — with the difference that it fits your room, matches your joinery and can be refinished rather than replaced. The figures below are indicative 2026 ranges from our own projects, including manufacture and delivery and excluding VAT and chairs.

The honest answer is not always custom. A side table nobody looks at closely can be bought off the shelf. But for the dining table your family gathers around, the desk you work at every day and any piece that has to match joinery already in the house, a made-to-measure table is the one you will still be pleased with in fifteen years.
Well-made tables need little care, but the Dubai environment has a few habits worth knowing. Keep solid-timber tops out of direct afternoon sun, or use blinds, to prevent uneven fading. Wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately; never leave standing water or use silicone polishes on oiled timber. Use mats and coasters for hot pans and citrus on both timber and marble. Re-oil oiled tops every one to two years; lacquered tops need only a soft cloth. Keep room humidity between 40 and 55 per cent where you can, and if a top ever shows a hairline crack or a joint opens, call us early — a small repair now avoids a refinish later. Desks with electric frames should have their cables checked once a year and the memory presets re-set after any power cut.
Families furnishing a renovated villa or apartment who want the dining table to match the kitchen and sideboard we have already built; professionals and couples working from home who need a desk that manages screens, cables and storage properly; parents planning children’s rooms; family businesses and home offices that need a meeting table; landlords and short-let operators furnishing units to one durable specification; restaurants, cafés and hotels ordering tables in quantity; and interior designers who need a workshop that will build their drawings precisely and manage delivery for them.
Our workshop is in Ras Al Khor Industrial Area, which puts most of Dubai within thirty minutes for site visits and deliveries. We regularly build and deliver tables and desks in Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim, Al Barsha, Arabian Ranches, Emirates Hills, Dubai Hills Estate, DAMAC Hills, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Jumeirah Park, Al Furjan, Mohammed Bin Rashid City, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, JLT, JBR, Downtown, Business Bay, DIFC, Mirdif, Al Warqa, Nad Al Sheba, Town Square and Villanova, and on request in Sharjah, Ajman, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Ras Al Khaimah. Apartment deliveries are planned around building rules, service-lift bookings and permitted hours, and large tops are made in sections where access demands it.
If you are planning a wider project, these pages will help: custom loose furniture covers consoles, sideboards, coffee tables and seating that match a dining table; custom kitchens and pantries for islands and breakfast bars built with the kitchen; wardrobes and cabinets for home-office storage walls; and the home carpentry hub lists every joinery service we offer. For office projects, see our fit-out services in Dubai.
As many as the room allows. We size tables for six to twenty, allowing 60–65 cm per seat and enough clearance behind chairs for circulation. Extending tables let you seat eight every day and fourteen or more on occasions.
Not if it is built for it. We kiln-dry timber to 8–10 per cent moisture, build tops from alternating boards with breadboard ends or steel channels, and seal every face. Tops built this way have been in Dubai homes for decades without problems.
Yes. We use German synchronised extension mechanisms with self-storing leaves, so the table extends in seconds and the leaves are never in a cupboard somewhere else.
Yes, and it is our most requested home-office piece. The desk, shelving, cupboards, lighting and cable routes are designed and built as one unit and installed in a day.
Cable trays under the top, flush grommets, pop-up power and USB-C modules, and a concealed spine to the floor box or wall socket. We plan it with you at the site visit so nothing trails.
Yes. We keep records of the veneers, lacquers and hardware used on your previous joinery and match them exactly, or take a sample from the existing piece.
We design large tops in sections or with demountable bases so they pass through standard doors and service lifts and are assembled in place. This is confirmed at the site visit.
Four to six weeks from approval of drawings and samples for most pieces. Stone tops and built-in office walls take five to eight weeks. Delivery and installation is usually half a day.
Sintered stone or quartz for stain and heat resistance, or a lacquered solid-oak top which can be refinished. We avoid polished marble for daily family use unless clients are happy to seal and care for it.
Yes — electric or manual height-adjustable frames clad in timber, or fixed desks sized for the child now with a plan to raise them later.
Yes. We strip, sand and re-oil or re-lacquer solid-timber tops in our workshop, repair joints and replace damaged sections. Prices start from around AED 1,200.
