Wooden Doors and Gates

Wooden Doors Dubai: Custom Doors, Gates and Frames Crafted for Emirates Living

A door is the first handshake your home offers. Long before a guest sees your marble, your lighting or your view, they touch your door — and a well-made timber door tells them everything they need to know about the house behind it.

At Fitout | Renovation Dubai, we design, manufacture, finish and install bespoke wooden doors Dubai residents and developers rely on: solid hardwood entrance doors, engineered interior doors, pivot doors, sliding and pocket systems, driveway and pedestrian gates, and the frames, architraves and hardware that hold it all together. Every piece is made to your opening, your finish and your climate — not pulled off a shelf and forced to fit.

We work across Dubai and all seven Emirates, from single villa door replacements in Jumeirah to full door packages for towers, hotels and community handovers. Whatever the scale, the standard is the same: honest timber, tight tolerances, and a finish built to survive a Gulf summer.

Why Wooden Doors Still Win in Dubai Homes

Aluminium is efficient. uPVC is cheap. Steel is secure. So why does almost every high-value villa in Emirates Hills, Al Barari or Palm Jumeirah still choose timber at the front door?

Because wood does something the alternatives cannot. It carries grain, depth and warmth. It absorbs sound instead of ringing with it. It insulates naturally — a solid hardwood leaf slows heat transfer far better than a hollow metal one, which matters when the outside face of your door sits in 48°C sun. And unlike a scratched aluminium panel, a timber door can be sanded, re-oiled and brought back to life a decade later.

There is also the resale argument. In Dubai’s property market, buyers read finishes as a proxy for build quality. A hand-finished walnut pivot door reads as care. A generic white flush door reads as a shortcut. The door is one of the cheapest places to buy perceived value in an entire villa.

  • Thermal comfort — solid timber has far lower thermal conductivity than aluminium or steel, easing the load on your AC at every external opening.
  • Acoustic calm — a 45mm engineered core door with proper seals meaningfully cuts corridor, road and pool-pump noise.
  • Design freedom — any width, any height, any grain direction, any groove pattern, any handle position. Timber is the only material that says yes to everything.
  • Repairability — dents, sun-fade and scratches are refinishable. Most competing materials are replace-only.
  • Character that ages well — teak and iroko silver gracefully; oak and walnut deepen. Plastic just gets old.

Our Wooden Door, Gate and Frame Collection

Everything below is made to order in our own joinery workshop. There is no fixed catalogue you must choose from — these are the categories we build most often, and each one is a starting point for your drawings.

1. Solid Wood Main Entrance Doors

The flagship. Built from kiln-dried hardwood or an engineered stability core clad in solid timber, sized from a standard 2.4m up to oversized 3.2m leaves. Choose horizontal plank detailing, flush book-matched veneer, vertical slats, routed grooves, or inlaid brass and stainless shadow lines. We fit multipoint security locks, concealed hinges, weather seals and drop-down thresholds as standard on external leaves.

2. Wooden Pivot Doors

A pivot door hangs on a floor-mounted or concealed top-and-bottom pivot instead of side hinges, which lets us build wider, taller and heavier than a hinged door safely allows. The result is a genuinely dramatic entrance — often 1.2m to 1.6m wide — that still swings with one finger. Pivot sets are the single most requested upgrade on our Dubai villa projects.

3. Wooden Double Doors and French Doors

Matched pairs for grand entrances, majlis openings and formal living rooms, with active and passive leaves, flush bolts and optional glazed sidelights to pull daylight into the entry. Available in painted lacquer, natural stain or high-gloss polyurethane.

4. Interior Room Doors and Matching Frames

Bedrooms, bathrooms, studies, laundry, maid’s rooms and store rooms — supplied as a complete set: leaf, frame, architrave, hinges, handle, lock and stopper, all finished to one consistent tone. We can produce flush doors, grooved doors, shaker-panelled doors, and full-height doors that run floor to ceiling with no visible head trim.

5. Sliding, Pocket and Barn Doors

Where a swing arc would waste floor area — walk-in wardrobes, en-suites, home offices, dressing rooms — we build sliding systems on soft-close top-hung tracks. Pocket doors disappear into the wall cavity entirely; surface-mounted sliders sit proud on an exposed or concealed rail. Ceiling-height panels with recessed finger pulls give the cleanest possible wall line.

6. Wooden Gates — Pedestrian and Driveway

Gates take everything Dubai can throw at them: direct sun, blown sand, humidity off the coast and the occasional shamal. We build them accordingly — heavy-section hardwood or WPC/aluminium-timber composite, marine-grade fixings, stainless hinge sets and finishes formulated for full UV exposure.

  • Pedestrian side gates — solid, slatted or louvred, framed to match your entrance door.
  • Sliding driveway gates — motorised on ground rails or cantilevered, with safety beams, remotes and intercom integration.
  • Swing driveway gates — single or double leaf, manual or automated with underground or articulated arm operators.
  • Privacy screens and courtyard gates — vertical batten screens that filter light and views without closing the space in.

7. Wooden Door Frames, Architraves and Skirting

A door is only as good as the frame it hangs in — and in the UAE, frames are where most cheap door packages fail. Blockwork moves, plaster shrinks, and an under-specified frame twists within a season. We manufacture frames from stable engineered hardwood or solid timber, machined to the exact wall thickness, with concealed anchor fixings and a rebated stop that seals cleanly against the leaf. Matching architraves and skirting complete the language of the room.

8. Glazed Timber Doors and Patio Systems

Hardwood-framed glazed doors bring the courtyard, garden or pool terrace into the house without giving up timber warmth. We supply hinged French sets, multi-panel bi-folds and lift-and-slide systems with double-glazed, low-E or laminated safety glass, plus optional timber louvred shutters for shade control.

9. Fire-Rated and Acoustic Wooden Doors

For staircases, service corridors, plant rooms, apartments and hotel projects, we supply certified fire-rated timber door sets tested to BS 476 Part 22 or EN 1634-1, in 30, 60, 90 and 120-minute ratings, complete with intumescent seals, smoke brushes, certified closers and the ironmongery the certification requires. Acoustic-rated sets are available where Rw ratings are specified. All fire door work is prepared for Dubai Civil Defence review and handed over with the certification pack intact.

The Timbers We Work With

Wood choice is not decoration — it decides how your door will behave in five years. Here is how we advise clients, plainly.

Built for the Climate: Heat, Humidity, Salt and Sand

Anyone can build a door in a mild climate. Building one that survives Dubai is a different discipline, and it is where most imported flat-pack doors quietly fail within two summers.

Our external door specification addresses four specific local stresses:

  1. Extreme surface heat. A west-facing door face can exceed 70°C. We use timbers with low movement coefficients, allow proper expansion gaps, and specify UV-stable finishes rather than standard interior lacquers that chalk and fade.
  2. Humidity swings. Coastal humidity can hit 90% overnight and fall by half by afternoon. All timber is kiln-dried to a moisture content suited to the region — typically 8–12% — and sealed on all six faces, including the top and bottom edges most workshops skip.
  3. Salt-laden air. Within a few kilometres of the coast, standard hinges and locks corrode fast. We specify 304 or 316 stainless steel ironmongery and marine-grade fixings on seafront properties as standard, not as an upgrade.
  4. Sand and dust ingress. Brush seals, drop-down threshold seals and correctly rebated frames keep fine dust out of the house and out of your lock cylinders — the single biggest cause of “sticky door” complaints in the UAE.

Finishes, Hardware and Smart Access

The finish is where a door earns its price. We offer:

  • Natural oil and hard-wax oil — matt, tactile, easy to spot-repair, lets the grain breathe.
  • Polyurethane lacquer — matt, satin or high gloss, hard-wearing and easy to clean.
  • Stains and tints — from lime-washed pale oak to near-black smoked walnut, colour-matched to your flooring or joinery sample.
  • Duco and RAL paint finishes — spray-applied in a controlled booth for a flawless, brush-mark-free surface.
  • Exterior UV systems — pigmented, high-solids coatings formulated specifically for Gulf sun exposure.

On hardware, we fit and integrate mortise and multipoint locks, concealed and pivot hinges, long bar pulls in stainless, brass, bronze and matt black, magnetic latches, floor springs, door closers, and smart access — fingerprint and PIN keypads, app-controlled smart locks, video intercom tie-ins and gate automation with remotes, safety beams and battery backup.

How We Work: Survey to Handover

  1. Free consultation and site survey. We visit, measure every opening precisely, check wall build-up, floor finish levels and swing directions, and discuss how each door will actually be used.
  2. Design and material selection. You see physical timber and finish samples in your own light, not a screen render. We prepare shop drawings showing sizes, grain direction, groove layout and hardware positions.
  3. Transparent written quotation. Itemised by opening — leaf, frame, architrave, finish, hardware, installation. No vague lump sums, no surprise extras.
  4. Workshop manufacture. Timber is selected, cut, laminated, pressed, machined and sanded in our own facility, then finished in a dust-controlled spray environment.
  5. Quality check before dispatch. Every leaf is checked for flatness, dimension, finish consistency and hardware preparation before it leaves the workshop.
  6. Site installation. Our own fitters install — plumb, level, correctly gapped, properly sealed and fully adjusted. No subcontracted guesswork.
  7. Handover and aftercare. We walk you through operation and care, hand over certificates where applicable, and back the work with a written warranty.

What Do Wooden Doors Cost in Dubai?

Honest answer: it depends on species, size, core, finish and hardware — and anyone quoting you a firm price before measuring is guessing. That said, clients deserve a realistic frame of reference, so here is the range we typically work within.

Our honest recommendation for most Dubai villas: solid hardwood at the main entrance where it is seen and felt, engineered timber internally where stability and value matter most, and WPC or composite on high-exposure service gates where maintenance access is awkward.

Caring for Wooden Doors in the UAE

  • Dust weekly with a dry or slightly damp microfibre cloth — abrasive dust is the enemy of any finish.
  • Avoid ammonia, bleach and all-purpose sprays. Use a pH-neutral wood cleaner only.
  • Re-oil external doors every 12–24 months depending on sun exposure; shaded doors last longer between coats.
  • Check and lubricate hinges, locks and gate rollers twice a year, using a dry PTFE lubricant that will not attract sand.
  • Keep sprinklers off timber gates. Repeated irrigation spray is the fastest way to destroy an external finish.
  • Address swelling or sticking early. A ten-minute adjustment now prevents a warped leaf later.

Who We Build For

Private villa owners upgrading a main entrance. Apartment owners re-doing every internal door in one go. Interior designers who need a joinery partner that will actually match the sample. Developers and contractors needing hundreds of consistent door sets delivered on programme. Hotels, clinics, schools and offices needing fire-rated and acoustic compliance without an ugly result. Facilities teams needing a warped, sun-damaged or storm-hit door made right again.

Useful Resources and Industry Standards

  • Buying doors well means knowing what the rules actually are. These are the official bodies and industry authorities we work to, and the sources we point clients towards when they want to verify something for themselves rather than take our word for it.

    • Dubai Civil Defence — the authority governing fire safety compliance for buildings in Dubai. Worth checking before you specify doors for a staircase, corridor, apartment or commercial space, since the required fire rating depends on your building type and occupancy.
    • Dubai Municipality — building regulations, permits and villa modification rules. Relevant if you are changing an external door, adding a gate or altering a boundary wall opening, all of which can require approval.
    • UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology — the national standards and conformity body. Its published quality standards cover construction materials sold in the UAE, including timber products and door hardware.
    • Forest Stewardship Council — the global certification scheme for responsibly sourced timber. You can verify a supplier’s chain-of-custody certificate directly on their database, which is the only reliable way to confirm a sustainability claim.
    • American Hardwood Export Council — free technical data on American white oak, walnut, ash and cherry, covering durability, moisture movement, machining and finishing. Useful reading before you commit to a species for a hot, humid climate.

If you want help interpreting any of the above for your specific property, ask us. We handle these submissions and specifications daily and are happy to explain what applies to you before you spend anything.

Asked Question

Have your any question look here now

Yes — provided they are specified correctly. Properly kiln-dried hardwood such as teak, iroko or Accoya, sealed on all six faces and coated with a UV-stable exterior finish, performs excellently in UAE conditions. Problems almost always come from under-dried timber, unsealed top and bottom edges, or interior-grade lacquer used outdoors. Every external door we build is specified to Gulf climate conditions as standard.

Typical lead time is three to five weeks from design approval for a standard door set, and five to eight weeks for oversized pivot doors, glazed systems or automated gates. Interior door packages of ten or more sets usually run four to six weeks. Installation itself is normally completed in one to two days per property.

A quality solid hardwood entrance door typically ranges from AED 8,000 to AED 30,000 supplied and installed, depending on timber species, size, glazing and lock specification. Oversized pivot entrance doors generally start around AED 15,000. Interior door sets start from roughly AED 1,200. Exact pricing is confirmed after a free site survey.

Teak is the benchmark for external use thanks to its natural oil content and dimensional stability. Iroko delivers similar outdoor performance at a lower price. Accoya and other modified timbers are outstanding for coastal and highly exposed positions. For driveway gates where maintenance access is difficult, WPC composite is a sensible, near-maintenance-free alternative.

Often yes, if the existing frame is square, solidly fixed and undamaged. We check it during the survey. Where a frame has twisted, absorbed moisture or was poorly anchored to blockwork, replacing leaf and frame together is the only way to guarantee the new door seals and swings correctly for years.

Yes. We supply certified fire-rated timber door sets tested to BS 476 Part 22 or EN 1634-1 in 30, 60, 90 and 120-minute ratings, with the required intumescent seals, smoke seals, closers and certified ironmongery, plus the full documentation pack for Dubai Civil Defence review.

Absolutely. We prepare the leaf and frame in the workshop for your chosen system — fingerprint and PIN keypads, app-controlled smart locks, video intercom integration or hotel-style card access. Preparing at manufacture stage gives a far cleaner result than retrofitting later.

Yes. We manufacture and install frames, architraves, skirting and matching wall panelling as standalone items, which is common when a client already has door leaves or is matching new frames to existing joinery.

In most cases, yes. We sand back, treat, repair splits and delamination, re-stain or repaint, replace failed hardware and re-hang. Restoring a good hardwood door is frequently far more economical than replacing it — we will tell you honestly when it is not worth saving.

Yes. Many Dubai communities require design approval before an external door or gate is changed. We prepare the drawings, specifications and submissions needed for Emaar, Nakheel, Damac, Dubai Properties and master community offices, and manage the approval process on your behalf.

Yes. We supply and install automated sliding and swing gates with sliding motors, underground or articulated arm operators, remote controls, keypads, safety photocells, video intercom integration and battery backup for power outages.

We provide a written warranty covering manufacturing defects, installation workmanship and finish integrity, with extended cover available on automation hardware. Full terms are set out in your quotation, and our service team handles any adjustments needed after handover.
